Volunteer Portrait

In honor of National Volunteer Week, we’d like to introduce our readers to Emily Dorwin, a “dream volunteer” who made a great contribution to WIN last year.

Emily took a semester off from college and came to New York City – a place she had never visited before. Living in a student hostel with 80 other young people, she began to volunteer full-time at Women In Need – working in the executive offices, in the shelters, at special events – any place she was needed. Emily was exceptionally bright and motivated, and charmed everyone with her willingness to help and her wonderful sense of humor. WIN honored her by presenting her with the Suzanne Pincus Commit to WIN Volunteer Award at our Volunteer Recognition Reception in June, 2008.

This year's Volunteer Recognition Reception is scheduled for Monday, June 8th. WIN volunteers should save the date and look for invitations in the mail!
