WIN's 25th Anniversary Dinner Gala

Charla Lawhon, managing editor of In Style magazine was honored at this year’s annual dinner.  Held on April 9th at the Pierre Hotel , the event was a huge success, raising upwards of $1.4 million.  Award winning performer, Kristin Chenoweth presented Ms. Lawhon with the Commit to WIN Award and, moved by a WIN client’s testimonial, graced the audience with an impromptu rendition of "Til There Was You."

The evening was hosted by Meredith Vieira co-anchor of NBC News’ "Today."  Her warmth and humor helped to make the evening a more memorable event for all who attended.

For the third year, Kayce Freed Jennings presented the Peter Jennings Prize: A Child’s View to four children from WIN shelters for essays they wrote on topics like "Friendship" and "If I Were President." Grand Prize winner 9 year old Aneesa read her essay "What Friendship Means to Me." In addition, the mayors office honored WIN by declaring April 9th Women In Need Day.

The Commit to WIN balloon pledge drive, held during the dinner, raised over $120K for WIN’s after school programs.  Board member Karen Harvey of the Karen Harvey Consulting Group kicked off the balloon pledges by committing to match every donation up to $25,000.

Our thanks to Event Chair, Karen Katz; Dinner Co-Chairs, Kayce Freed Jennings and Jaqui Lividini; the Benefit Committee, the underwriters, our generous Board, and everyone whose support helped make this event so successful.
