Employment & Education Services
WIN's comprehensive approach to employment and education services centers on the relationship between economic self-sufficiency and housing stability. WIN offers a range of services to prepare our clients for employment, including basic skills testing and assessment, job readiness preparation, computer instruction, Adult Basic Education and GED preparation, and referrals to a variety of vocational and educational resources.

Here are some of the programs offered at WIN:
On-Site Trainings at the Junius/LibertyComplex:
a. Security Guard Trainings. Two-week trainings held on a monthly basis.
b. Entrepreneurial/Craft Workshop.
c. Porter/Maintenance Trainings. Three-week trainings, followed by a three-week (minimum) maintenance internship at various WIN shelters.
d. Job Preparation Workshops. Offered and facilitated by New York Cares. The volunteers provide one-on-one job preparation and group services; some of which includes interviewing skills, resume writing, and assistance with online job applications.
e. Basic Computer Skills Workshop. Offered and facilitated by One Brick Volunteer Services on a bi-weekly basis.
Referrals to Off-Site Trainings and Employment Services:
a. Home Health Aide Trainings (Partners In Care)
b. Customer Service, Retail Trainings and Security Trainings (Securitas)
c. Childcare Trainings for clients interested in working at a daycare or offering Childcare/Daycare Services as a business (Bright Light).
d. Employment Services (Workforce One Centers).
In addition, WIN's supportive housing program (62 units in scattered sites) for young mothers 18-24 who aged out of foster care with dependent children, continues to partner with Kingsborough College to provide GED preparation, enabling the mothers to earn their high school diploma and increase their ability to find and maintain work.
